Shale oil production eia
Shale oil production will continue to rise through 2030 and reach more than 10 million barrels per day in the early 2030s, the EIA said. The EIA predicts gas production of 33.13 Bcf/d in March, down from a record 33.85 Bcf/d in November 2019. The EIA projects shale oil and gas production will be virtually unchanged from February to March in two plays, the Bakken and Eagle Ford shales. The underestimation of the U.S. shale gas business is just as huge as it is for oil. Today, we are producing ~87 Bcf/d, which is a whopping 30% higher than the 67 Bcf/d EIA projected that we would now be producing back in 2012. Forecasts go higher stunningly fast. For example, from just September to December 2018, Hughes continues to rate EIA estimates of ultimate recovery from America’s shale oil and natural gas fields as “extremely optimistic, and highly unlikely to be realized.” U.S. shale oil production has been a major driver in the growth of world oil supplies. Last year the United States accounted for 98 percent of global growth in oil production. “If U.S. energy policy actually reflected the need to mitigate climate change…the EIA’s forecasts for tight oil and shale gas production through 2050 make even less sense.” By Nick
